I was at Macy's the other day, browsing, looking for deals. I looked like any other shopper there that morning, nothing that would make me stand out from any other.
While I was poking through an 80% off rack (the only way to shop) a woman started walking towards me with a purpose.... She was looking right at me like she had an agenda....I was only looking at her with my peripheral, but as she got closer I turned almost facing her. She had her hand out stretched, I noticed something in it... like a or a card. As soon as she got right upon me she handed me a card and said "It's my Birthday, I want you to have this". There was no expression what so ever on her face as she handed me the card. Almost as though she was looking through me.
I looked down... she had handed me a $2.00 scratch ticket! I was stunned.... Was this a joke? Of course all the AFV shows ran through my mind instantly, was someone going to start laughing, if I scratched it and I won would it then state that it was a phoney? As she was walking away and I had regained my Witt's, I thanked her and hollered for her to have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
There was another shopper on the other side of the rack and I said to her "she just gave me a scratch ticket"! She was excited for me, hoping that I would win, that it was my lucky day, then of course went into the news that the latest "mega something" was won by one person and how that was unfair.... and on and on...
I continued to browse, but not really thinking of the clothes. Should I scratch it now? What if I win, should I find her and tell her? I stuck it in my pocket and waited!
I walked around Macy's and then out into the mall, still thinking... when should I scratch this, now, in my car.... Half way down the mall I took out a coin from my pocket and as I walked I scratched.
I didn't win.
Whether you are on the giving end or the receiving end, it sure makes you feel good!
Pass it on!
